An Exercise that Helps You Feel Better About Yourself

I just started doing some new exercises. I’ve been a fan of yoga and jogging for a while now. Very recently I decided to join my husband at 5:00am in the morning in our basement to try an exercise called Kempo, it’s an exercise that’s a part of a series of exercises in the P90X program.

Kenpo is a combination of boxing, kick boxing and karate moves. Now, I’ve NEVER done anything like this before, mind- you. There I was at 5:00am, sweat pants, t-shirt on, kicking and trying to box simultaneously. I had a hard time initially following all of the moves and my hands and arms were flailing- finding it difficult to punch the air- not quite use to this particular motion.

What I found as my exercise session continued was that I was laughing at myself, moving new muscles, calling out to my husband as he knew the moves better then I, and honestly, enjoying doing something different.

My body loved it! It felt like a good workout! It was a good work out.

My body had gotten accustom to my light jogging and occasional yoga and doing these new moves really seemed to bring it back to life.

I had never planned doing new exercises. As a matter of fact, I had been very against expanding my repertoire of exercises. I’ve enjoyed yoga and jogging, I thought- I have the exercises I like, no need for others.

On this particular morning, I found something new and fun to do. Something that had me feeling great and an added bonus- I was also connecting with my husband in a new and different way!

If you’re feeling concerned about how you look, wishing your body to shift a little here or there or just want to feel energized reinvigorated, and better about yourself, consider opening up your mind and expanding the type of exercising you do.

If you don’t presently exercise, try adding an exercise video to your weekly routine. I recommend you commit to doing it with a friend- that way you can each hold each other accountable.

If you already exercise, then by all means try something new and out of character for you. My Kenpo exercising had me feeling more “masculine” when I was done. What the heck do I mean by that- I mean I felt strong, grounded, easily connected with my inner confidence. Trying something new can help you to feel stronger and more confident too!

Peruse the internet, ask around, find a class to join, a video to buy or rent, and if you feel so inclined get your new exercise groove on!!!

Here’s to confidence and feeling GREAT about yourself!

Warmly,

Andrea!
